Sackville Shotokan Karate

Sackville Shotokan Karate, formerly known as Mount Allison Shotokan Karate, is a historic club. It is where Shihan David Pyke started his training in 1980. At the time the club was run by Sensei Tony and Danny Tam, they are currently Shihan Kai in the ISKF. Previous to the Tams, Sensei Barry Ripley and Sensei Tony Fahey taught at Mount A. Shihan Pyke would take over the club after the Tams moved but he was forced to close it due to low enrolment.

In 2002, Sensei Norm Robitza reopened the club as a brown belt. In 2019, the decision was made to change the club’s name from Mount Allison Shotokan Karate club to Sackville Shotokan Karate. This was to help make the club more inviting to members of the Sackville, NB community.

2022 saw another big change to the club, with no new university students, Sackville Shotokan Karate was forced to move off campus.
